Success stories from the Northern Territory
Any community facing social issues is more likely to find sustainable, workable solutions if the community itself is involved in the design and implementation of those solutions. A community knows best what the underlying conditions contributing to their issues are, and they are best placed to know what will and will not work in their community.
Here are some success stories from the Northern Territory that show how Indigenous-led initiatives often get the best results.

These projects demonstrate how permanent progress in improving the lives of Aboriginal Australians in the NT can only be achieved when there is genuine engagement, particularly by government, with the communities concerned.
We are currently compiling a booklet of success stories, and more stories will be added as they become available:

About the success stories
In 2007 we produced a booklet called Success Stories in Indigenous Health, which showed how Indigenous-led health care initiatives can often get the best results.
This second series of success stories focuses on community-led initiatives in the NT and shows how Aboriginal solutions for Aboriginal people are more sustainable and effective than solutions imposed from the top down by government.
Who is ANTaR?
We are a group of mainly non-Indigenous people dedicated to supporting Australia's First Peoples. By joining us as an Advocate, you'll be supporting Aboriginal people and helping them to educate those who have the power to make change - our politicians in Canberra.
