Ideas on how you can speak up against racism in public
It can be difficult to speak up against racism in public because you may not know how the person or group will react to your comment.
- Step up. Don't allow someone to be mistreated when you have the power to help. Speak up when you witness racism where-ever you go. MAKE SURE YOU ARE SAFE.
- Non-verbal response. Make your feelings known by frowning or other non-verbal communication.
- State your concern clearly.
"I find your comments offensive. You are basing your opinion on stereotypes, not facts."
- Speak to the manager. If the incident happens in a store or restaurant, let the manager know what your concerns are or what behaviour offended you.
