High impact actions

If you want to become an advocate and make the maximum amount of impact in support of Indigenous Australians, here's some things you can do.
-
Speak up against racism — start by signing the pledge, then get some tips on what you can say when you hear a racist comment. It seems simple, but this is a crucial action that every individual can take and it will really make a difference.
-
Send a letter to your Premier or Chief Minister — let them know COAG's closing the gap approach will undermine progress on achieving closing the gap targets and will limit the impact of the money committed in November last year.
-
Write to newspapers or call radio chat shows — if you feel strongly about Indigenous issues, spread the word in the mass media. Take a look at our tips on speaking up in the media.
-
Meet with your MP — discuss with them the issues that are troubling you and what you'd like them to do about it. It may sound daunting, but we're here to help.
-
Blog — if you have a blog (or micro-blog account like Twitter or Tumblr), write a post about Indigenous issues to keep these issues in people's minds. Feel welcome to link to ANTaR or use the resources on this site as source material for your post.
