State and Territory Close The Gap commitments

07 May 2009

Queensland, Victoria and Western Australia, along with the federal government, have signed the Close The Gap statement of intent. The statement commits governments to improving Indigenous health.

One of the commitments refers to social determinants:

"We commit: To working collectively to systematically address the social determinants that impact on achieving health equality for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples."

Other state and territory governments have made various commitments to improving Indigenous health but are yet to fully commit to the Close The Gap statement of intent.

Find out what you can do to influence your state or territory government to commit to closing the gap.
