The Katherine West Health Board and Nganampa Health Council are members of the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO) - the national peak Aboriginal health body representing 128 Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services throughout Australia.

Of these 128 organisations, 62 are in Urban or Semi-urban areas, 11 in the ‘Moderately Accessible’/Rural areas, and 51 in either Remote or Very Remote.

These services provided approximately 1.34 million episodes of comprehensive primary health care in 2000-01 and employs 2,500 full-time equivalent staff, 70% of which are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

NACCHO also engages in policy advocacy and research on Indigenous health and recently won an award from the National Institute of Clinical Studies for research and a clinical trial to improve the management of chronic ear infections affecting the Aboriginal population.
