Buy with care
Many Australians now buy products and services with the environment and climate in mind. The same principle applies here.
- You can buy Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander products and services to support Indigenous self-determination and economic outcomes. Don't know where to find them? Start by viewing ANTaR's The Rights Stuff catalogue produced in October each year to bring you examples of products from around Australia.
- You can make sure that non-Indigenous products/services you use are provided by organisations that are non-discriminatory, respect Indigenous people and provide employment/economic opportunities to Indigenous Australians.
- Some examples of Aboriginal Business Success Stories in NSW.
- Learn if the organisations that your workplace purchases goods or services from has a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
- Learn if your organisation has a strong commitment to providing employment to Aboriginal people. Two great examples of such programs are the AFL or NRL.
- Learn if your organisation has a strong commitment to promoting business opportunities for Indigenous people. This could include purchasing locally produced ingredients from Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander cooperatives and organisations.
